Common questions

How do I group bills by home, rental, or portfolio?

Go to the Portfolio page from the sidebar and add a place for bills that should be kept together. You can group household, rental, vehicle, or portfolio costs without changing how everyday bills work.

How does the EOFY export work?

On the EOFY page, use "Transactions" for the filtered payment CSV or "Export Accountant Pack" for transaction, category, and property-record files. The export includes your recorded dates, amounts, categories, tax treatments, reconciliation, notes, and document status.

Can I change the amount when marking a bill as paid?

Yes. When you click "Mark as Paid" on a bill, you can edit the amount before confirming. This is useful when the final invoice differs from the estimated amount.

How do I revert an accidental payment?

Open the bill detail page and click "Revert Payment". This deletes the most recent payment record and restores the previous due date. You can also delete individual payments from the Payment History section.

What does "tax treatment" mean on a payment?

It lets you classify each payment for EOFY reporting as Deductible, Capital, Non-deductible, or Private/Mixed use. Bill Sorted records the option you choose; it does not determine the correct tax treatment or provide tax advice.

Can I track rental income?

Yes. Rent and place-specific costs can sit beside home bills, subscriptions, rego, insurance, and other household admin.

How do I import bank transactions?

Open Import Transactions, download the template if needed, or upload a bank CSV with date, description, and amount columns. Bill Sorted reads uploaded CSV files only; it does not ask for your bank login or connect directly to your bank.

Can someone else receive a bill reminder?

Yes. Add extra recipient email addresses to a bill reminder. If someone needs their own login as well, use Shared Access to invite a family member or accountant into the same workspace.

How do I request account deletion?

Export any records you want to keep, then email support from your account address. We will verify the request and confirm the next steps.
